The April A-Z Challenge is a month-long blogging challenge, where every participant posts a blog on a topic starting with A on 1st, B on 2nd and so on. We get the Sundays free. You can read more about it here.

After her dad passed away, life gave her only little time to mourn. The house had to be sold. She had to switch schools that would suit her new financial status. She has to learn to walk to school and not drive anymore.

Her father, friends, social status, car, home everything was grabbed out of her reach in a life-changing 24-hours. She picked the things that she would need, and could fit into her new room in the ridiculously tiny apartment.

The box with the silk dress that she once longed for, the one her dad secretly purchased for her, waiting to present it on her birthday the following week, lay abandoned in the loft.

This post has been written for the April A to Z Challenge 2015 that I revealed here.

*P.S. This is the first time I’m attempting Flash Fiction. I’m definitely not good at it, and I have made this challenge harder for me by attempting something SO out of my comfort-zone. But I’m trying to push my limits and explore the world of fiction writing, starting with this April A-Z Challenge. I’m all ears for constructive criticism, so please do comment. 🙂

  1. This is a very good first attempt at flash-fiction Sharu. We all start somewhere. Be very proud of yourself to have ventured out of your comfort zone. Glad to have connected with you through AtoZ. Will be following you through April. Cheers!

    1. Thank you so much for such kind and comforting words, Shanaya. I was freaked out initially, but your words give me so much encouragement. Thanks for dropping by. I’m following your post everyday too 🙂 Cheers x

  2. Cool, so finally you decided to write! And how superbly written! I am always in awe at people who can write stories in such short words. Brilliant! Looking forward for more 🙂
