So you decide to catch-up with a long-lost bestie for brunch on a lazy Saturday. Or maybe hang-out with friends in the early evening hours where you could just talk endlessly and have a relaxing meal. One fine spot for such leisure hours would be Lamandier in R.A. Puram Chennai.
I have visited this place once when it started 2 years back and then recently. As I moved away from the city I don’t get to visit such cute cafe’s often and that’s my only regret! The cuisine and ambiance is European themed and you’d fall in love with it even before you step in. It has some cozy outdoor seating as well, but I personally recommend getting a seat inside preferably upstairs or close to the French window.
Parking and Location:
Lamandier is right on the main road next to Cream Center with French Café accents and you can’t miss it. Parking is an hassle, good thing they’ve got valet.
The place is very nicely themed and rich. It gives out a very cozy vibe and helps break the ice when you’re struggling for conversation starters. Ha! Special points from an introvert.
So it all comes down to this. We went there for a brunch and although the brunch timings were mentioned as 11:30 AM – to 3:00PM, we reached around 11:45 PM waited till 12:30 and still the brunch platter wasn’t completely set. The staff were bringing out the dishes and displaying them. By then, me and my friend were already completely famished (this was our breakfast too remember?) and went for ala carte.
We ordered Mac and Cheese (ALWAYS my safe bet!), Chicken Schnitzel and Sauté Mushroom to go on the side. The Mac and Cheese was super cheesy and I totally loved it. The portion size was okayish I’d say, but could be better. The Chicken Schnitzel was well-cooked and crispy on the outside. Could have had a bit more flavour to it, but I haven’t had this before, so not judging. And the Sauté Mushroom was absolutely lip-smacking.
The total bill amount sums up to 885 and 159 service charge + tax. This is clearly not okay when we were made to wait close to 45 minutes. Well :/
I wouldn’t go there when I’m already starving. It’s more of a catch-up and just go with the vibe place.Service can be quicker! But the food is worth giving a shot and the ambiance really helps.
Have you visited this place? Is there any other themed restaurant you recommend?
